The profile of an Entrepreneur
Submitted by admin on Sat, 12/12/2009 - 12:59
There is a misconception of the psychological makeup of the average entrepreneur. Most people think of entrepreneurs as risk-takers, wild people who do things on a whim. I am an entrepreneur. I have known thousands of entrepreneurs. This perception of them is completely wrong. The entrepreneurs I’ve known (the successful ones anyway) have all been planners. They wanted to know what was coming around the corner. There is always a risk involved when starting up a new company. But they plan in order to have the best chance of succeeding. What is it that makes an entrepreneur stand out? Action. A lot of people are good at planning. Others are good at seeing what the future will bring. But the difference is, when an entrepreneur gets all the information together, they act on it. The ability to act on what he or she knows sets the entrepreneur apart. But that doesn’t make the entrepreneur a risk-taker. A risk-taker acts without planning. An entrepreneur acts because of his or her planning. That is a huge difference. |
